When you line Tablein up against HostMe, SimpleERB, BookingNinja, Get In App or Superb, the monthly headline price is the least useful number on the page. What decides your actual bill is what the entry plan meters — reservations, covers, staff seats or messages — because that is what makes a busy month cost more than a quiet one.

Tablein publishes its entry plan at €67/mo (£60 · $79 USD), with 50 reservations included, then €0.67 each (Tablein's own pricing page, checked 10 August 2026). TableNest meters SMS rather than reservations: Starter is $29 AUD/month with 120 SMS messages included — every message counts, so a confirmation plus a 24-hour reminder is two — and bookings confirmed by email are never capped and never counted against that allowance.

So ask every platform on your shortlist the same question — “what does my bill look like in my busiest month, not my average one?” — and compare those numbers instead of the ones printed on the pricing page.

Booking software that doesn't write to your till and your accounts leaves someone re-keying covers at the end of the night, and that is usually where the real cost of a cheap platform sits. It is also the column most shortlists skip, because every vendor lists an integration page and few list the one you actually run.

Tablein's published integrations page names Google Business, Reserve with Google, Facebook, Instagram, Michelin, WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, Webflow, Hostinger, Stripe, PayPal, Redsys, Paysera, Viva Wallet, Apple Pay, Mailchimp, MailerLite and Zapier, plus a generic "POS integration" — no Square by name, and no accounting software at all (checked 10 August 2026). TableNest ships a named two-way Square POS sync and Xero invoicing on the Business plan ($49 AUD) and above.

The comparison runs the other way too. Tablein lists a Reserve with Google integration; TableNest has no Google booking integration of any kind. If being bookable from Google's own button matters more to you than your POS and your accounts, that is a real point against us. Either way, ask for the integration by name rather than by category — “POS integration” and “Square POS sync” are not the same promise.

Once you are down to two or three platforms the feature lists stop helping, because everyone lists everything. Four answers separate them, and every vendor will give them to you in writing if you ask. Put one column per question and one row per platform, and fill it in from each vendor's own published pages rather than from a review site.

1. Does the bill move with the covers? Find the metered unit and price your busiest month at it, not your average one. Tablein meters reservations on its entry plan (50 reservations included, then €0.67 each); TableNest meters SMS and never caps email-confirmed bookings.
2. Can you take the customer list out? Ask for the export format, not just a yes. TableNest has customer CSV export on every plan, Starter included.
3. Does it write to the till and the books? A booking system that stops at your inbox leaves the re-keying to you. TableNest's two-way Square POS sync and Xero invoicing start on the Business plan ($49 AUD).
4. What does the guest get when plans change? Every TableNest confirmation and reminder SMS carries a cancel link the guest taps to free the table, and every message ends with “Reply STOP to opt out”. Cancelling a single booking is link-only, never a reply keyword: a keyword reply is treated as an opt-out by the SMS provider, so it blocks future messages instead of freeing the table.
